One of the main features of Forex market is that it works 24 hours a day starting from 0:00 on Mondays until 22:00 of Fridays. Days off are Saturdays and Sundays as the major part of all banks is closed (market has a very low liquidity on these days). Asian session
Conversional operations of US dollar into Yen (USDJPY), US dollar into Euro (EURUSD), Euro into Yen (EURJPY) and Australian dollar into US dollar (AUDUSD) are the most active ones during this trading session.
European session
During this session operations are carried out in European trade centers. Volatility of major currency pair increases with opening of London market. Activity decreases a bit in lunch time but in the evening traders get back with the same level of activity. Exchange rate fluctuations may be very significant during European trading session as Euro possesses a great amount of financial instruments.
American session
The most active hours on Forex are those when the American session starts in New York, banks are starting to open and European traders get back from their lunch. The power of European and American banks is quite equal thereby there are usually no significant changes occur on the market during these hours. However, after a European session is over volatility may increase, especially on Friday, right before the weekend. The American session is marked with aggressive trading.
Pacific session
It is the most calm period of time on the market.
